Thanks go out to Larry once again for taking care of me. I was able to fly in to Salt Lake City and cook in this awesome contest. Larry had me all set up for a comp. With all of his help, I was able to finish as the Reserve Grand Champion. We gave Johnny Trigg a run for it, but in the end he had me by a few points. We were able to get 4th chicken, 6th ribs, 2nd pork and 6th brisket.

I highly recommend this contest and will give it serious consideration again for next year! So what do you say Larry? Smiler

Donna, can you send Larry the pellets? If not for him, I wouldn't of been in that position!!!

Wish I new how to post pictures, cause I have a few nice shots of the mountains. Pretty nice up at 8500'...

Thanks again Larry!

Everyone said it would take longer. I noticed nothing really different. I had to actually slow it down, as I gave it some extra time and I didn't want them sitting around cooked for too long... It took it longer to get up to temp and probably burned more fuel than what I am used to. But timewise, it was just the same.

Now that I know I can do it, I am going to try and be like Eddy and fly in to more contests. It sure does open up my areas of the country that I thought I could cook at!!! All I need is a FEC and I am set... Cool

Ringer... You are a funny guy John... Roll Eyes

I see why Eddy used to do this so often! You can definitley see new parts of the country and meet a whole new bunch of cooks. Which I enjoy doing. I've seen a whole bunch of the country and it's not even July yet...

so I might just be taking you up on that Dan! As my goal is to cook in as many states as possible.

Thanks Dan!
