Are the covers needed on FEC100's

I'm a new owner of an FEC100 and have seen many teams using inslated covers at cookoff's. Is that what the covers from Cookshack are? My first time to use mine was in 8-12 deg temps and it held temp real good. I don't want to spend $100.00 on a cover if it really isn't needed. Remember, I'm making the transition from stick burners to pellets.

The smoker is so well insulated that the cover doesn't need to be. It is needed to keep the electronics and the pellet hopper dry though.

I put my cover on for 2 reasons at comps.

1. To keep it (pellets and electronics) dry.
2. To keep the stainless from getting scorching hot. (not needed if you don't have a sunny day).
