Well,we try to stay on a positive note here.

Atlanta has a large quanity of bbq joints, but the consensus is a sparse quality.

If you are not used to quality, and happy to just find bbq-seek out something near your hotel.

If you are staying out north of the loop,Swallow at the Hollow is pretty highly regarded- for Atlanta q.

The city does offer a great number of other types of fine restaurants.

If you get tired of Q, the best of the best is Hal's of Atlanta.. It is located in Buckhead and is the absolute local favorite, steaks, fish etc. One of the very best in all of Atlanta! The owner is originally from New Orleans and everything on the menu is fantastic. No advertising, just word of mouth with the locals. The bar is also fantastic!!!

If you are willing to drive about 60-90 minutes from downtown Atlanta, there is (or was) a place in Madison that was pretty good. It is called Crowe's BBQ. We ate there about every day while I was on that project. Take I-20 East out to Madison, GA. Make left at top of exit and go 1/4-1/2 mile, it is a little broken-down looking shack on the right hand side of the road. The brunswick stew was exceptionally good.
The scoop on the Swallow at the Hollow. It is on a one lane side street with no sign in front of it and still fills up for any meal. Great atmosphere, best Mac and cheese I have ever had, but the BBQ is good but not the best in Atlanta. Sauce selection is very limited. The owner also owns a comfort food restraunt across the street named Greenwoods (still no sign)
