I used the rib racks with my Amerique twice before putting them away for good. I don't like my ribs to touch and even with babyback's I was leaving one slot open between rib racks for airflow. The racks are not very tall, and even with small St. Louis cuts the rib racks will fall over onto the slab next to it.

The next time I buy wood chunks I am going to order the rib hooks and see if they work better. (Cheaper too!)

Just my $.02 cents!
bacchus,

The racks are different for FE's vs the AQ. Rob is asking about FE's which use pellets not chunks.

As far as ribs touching, when you have a lot to do, sometimes they have to touch. You can always rotate them (during the smoke)to minimize that issue.

The racks are taller I believe for the FE, but I'm not positive. They work fine for St. Louis in the FE.

As far as rib hooks for the AQ, I'm not a fan.
Hi Smokin..how could I ever doubt you.I just like to ask lots of questions before I buy anything. I really do respect whatever advice you give me.But now that I have your attention again..Can you tell me do the Rib Racks sit on top of the grills in the Fec or do they hang by themselves.Do you use these Racks or not? Is there another way that you can think of that I can cook more than two racks at a time per level without buying the racks?? Rob
They replace the grills and slide in just like they do and fit the actual slot

I do 3 racks, front to back, by trimming off the fat bone at the end of every slab, and throw it in the pile of trimmings to cook them together (if I even bother)

the racks work fine, for cooking a lot. However, if you fill them and have 40 racks, it's a LOT of ribs to deal with. Some will touch, the amount of smoke will vary as you're restricting the smoke flow to the wood surface (not a bad thing, just lots of ribs in there)
