check out this link to read about Woodburner's trip that he made a few years back. He did an excellent job of documenting and providing pictures of some well known bbq establishments. http://www.cookshack.com/barbeque_guide/wb/HTML/WBTrip/index.htm Good Luck!!!!!
Mountain Man, you don't say how much time you have or if you are driving or flying. But...one option would be to fly to Dallas and take in Sonny Bryan's original and Angelo's in Fort Worth, then drive to Austin. From there you could make little q-loops into central Texas--Elgin, Lockhart, etc.--to enjoy all the great spots there. Many are described in the book Legends of Texas Barbeque by Robb Walsh, a chapter called "On the Barbeque Trail". Good luck, and let me know if you head this way; a road trip to some of those spots is always a treat.
