I'm sure not the authority on this,but I'll give what I understood.

My loose understanding was that the three well known/celebrity/expert judges would award scores at each contest.

Let's say there was a possible 100% ,perfect score at each.

You might win at location A with a 50%.

Someone else could lose at location B with a 75%.

The same scores might be duplicated another week.

Your total points are used to determine the placements.

Thus the loser of the cookoff,advances with the higher numerical score.

There was no throwing out a low scoring judge,so if that judge killed all three cooks at the contest,your scores would not recover for the totals-even if you won the cookoff.

We've all heard of the judge that "doesn't like thighs and kills the table"

Maybe Ray or Eddy can cleanup my presentation.
