You're new, so we won't Flame you. We'll be gentle, but in most Q'in forums, if you mentioned boiling, "thems fightin' words".
I think with Food Network and a lot of BAD cooks, they think that boiling is the way to tenderize the ribs.
And I know people that LOVE the technique. There was a thread a little farther down on the page, check out the link in that to a guy that LOVES 'em boiled. To me, all you will EVER taste is the sauce. You'll never taste the meat:
How to do ribs right ribs -- NOT!I would guarantee, that most ANY Q'in fool out there will guarantee you that boiling ribs is the way to bad ribs.
What happens is you're boiling away flavor. Throw some chicken in boiling water and then smoke it. What's it taste like? It'll only taste like the sauce you put on it because the chicken will be boiled...ALL flavor of the chicken boiled out.
My personal theory of boiling is that besides boiling off flavor, nutrients and most any thing of use, it also closes the protein of the meat and keeps any flavor from penetrating.
Don't do it. If you do, don't come back
We can help you make EXCEPTIONAL ribs without boiling and they'll be better than any restaurant. Boiling is the easy way to bad ribs. Smoking or Grilling them will give you Exceptional Ribs.
