I've also heard some talk about flame-ups and fire from chips. So the foil pack Wheelz suggested may prevent that from happening.

I don�t know if you could really tell the difference in taste, but �chunks� from seasoned, old, white oak, wine/bourbon barrels sure sounds intriguing. Too bad you can�t get some �chunks�. Hope the chips work out for you�let us know.
I would be interested if someone has bought one of the half barrels from the Home Despot etc. and cut it up for smoking wood chunks. Not counting the labor it would probably be about these same price as wood from Wally World. And Wally World you can't buy wood that gave it's heart to some of the world's finest sippin' Whiskey and Cabernets, maybe it would like to go out as being burned for some of the world's finest Q Confused
