I am thinking of doing pulled pork sammies for the awards dinner for my clubs rifle league. Unsure of the number of people that will be there but am estimating only 15-20. Can someone give me an idea on how much I would want to start with. Most of the butts I can get here are trimmed cut into about 4-5 pound chunks with bone in.
I do have a Super Wally here and a Sams about 1.5 hours in any one direction. Would they be a better place to look than my where I normally pick them up.

thanks

You can cook the chunks just fine.

I would suggest that you go to any market that sells country ribs, pork steaks, cut butts, etc. and ask them for whole butts at their promo price.

They should be happy to sell them that way,as the don't have to cut, package, display them.

They ship to the stores in 2 pack cryovac, which will freeze forever.

Like Robbi said,I figure about two 4 oz sandwiches per pound raw bone in butt.

A two pack of butts is about 15 lbs, which yields about 30 four oz or 24 five oz sandwiches or 20 six oz.

Better to have leftovers,as too little.

For hunters ,I'd buy a bigger bun and give a better sandwich.
