Can't set Hold Temp or Cook Time on an FEC 100

First let me say that I really love my FEC 100. Its my fifth cooker and the best by far that I've ever used. And my friends and family are pretty much in awe of the bbq it turns out.

I got it about a year ago and about two months later I found that I could not set either the Hold Temp or Cook Time. I can set the Cook Temp and have been making do with that, but I want to get it fixed now. What happens is that I hold down the button, but it never lets me set the value. Could it be a bad keypad? Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes, call CS they'll have to diagnose the issues with you direct.

I had the same thing happen on one of mine when it was new, the electronic key pad was bad. called CS, they took care of it. just call and talk to them.

I'm not saying this is your problem but using the keyboard for a while I discovered something that I've seen others complain about on this forum.
I always had problems entering in settings. I was having to keep pushing the pad again and again until it took. Then I found out that the first 10 seconds of start up, the controller won't take anything. Now I just turn it on and wait 10 seconds and it will respond instantly.

Thanks for the tip...I am guilty of trying to change temperature immediately upon startup.

Hey All! Thanks! It turned out to be a bad keypad. Bill from CS sent me a new controller and now I can set everything.

Thanks for the 10 second rule tip, too. I was guilty of that as well.

It does look like the buttons on the new controller have a larger contact area than the old one, so maybe that's helping, too.
