Been narrowing my choice for awhile and the FE looks like it might get the nod. Unfortunately, photos of the unit aren't all that helpful.

What's the story on cooking in the rain? Not worried about the cabinet interior so much as concerned that moisture might infiltrate the pellet hopper, leading to jams, 'crete, etc.

Like duck, I've been using mine for two years no problems with Jams, leave the pellet in most times during the summer.

In 4 contests this year, I've been in H-U-G-E rainstorms. Because I'm the cautious type, I put the cover on when I know it's going to be a big storm, but it's not necessarily required. The insulation keeps it from cooling off during the rain, somethig my other competitors had to worry about.

No jams here.
Keep the water out of the pellet hopper and all will be well . . . Some folks use trash bags. I prefer to cook with my covers on when it's raining.

For those of you that are thinking that my competition pits are mounted under a roof on a trailer, we've had wind blown rain that hits those cookers all the way to within about a foot of the tops. Eeker

I have mine in some hellacious rainstorms and as long as you keep the cover on & you don't lose power due to a tripped GFI or something like that it will be just fine. The next time I cook outdoors like last weekend, I'm going to wrap the plug in with plastic bags to keep out moisture.
