I have a problem with cold air or rain blowing into the exhaust on my FEC. With winter coming on, it may soon be snow. A couple of people have mentioned putting a chimney cap on the pipe, but, so far, I have not been able to find a 5 inch one. The places I have looked have 4 and 6 inch ones. One made from stainless would be ideal but I can't even find a galvanized one. Where can they be found? This might be something that CS should make available as an accessory.

The Home Depot and Lowes in my area only have 4 and 6 inch fittings. I know that a fabrication shop could make one, but I was looking for something off the shelf. This is where I miss work. I had friends there who could make anything. Next time I am down in the big city, I will check with the stores there. They sometimes have parts we don't have locally.

Go to Lowes and get a 6" cap. It has three small braces coming up from the pipe. I take and drill out the rivets and re-bend them to fit 5" pipe and attach. I have done this several times for friends. I have two FEC 100's on my competition trailer that vent thru the roof but for the one that I use at home I made extended the vent above the unit putting a 5" 90 on the exhaust then installed 28" of 5" pipe with the above mentioned cap. I also had built a stand-off out s/s and mounted it to the existing screw on the smoker to hold the pipe steady. If needed I can take a picture and e mail it to you.
