Coffee wood for smoking?

Is coffee grown in Colorado? It might sound like a dumb question, but I really have no idea of the climate coffee is grown in. I am thinking it grows on mountain slopes. I wouldn't think it would be poison, maybe oily. I would split it to expose the grain both crosswise and lenghtwise, make sure it is very dry.

Rick -- Do you have coffee wood in hand or just questioninng it? A quick Google shows that the only US grown coffee is in Hawaii.

PS... I would want to make sure the wood hadn't been treated with pesticides!

I used it once...couldn't get to sleep all night...

I saw an article on this some time back...sorry I can't remember where though. The writer used coffee wood, but made sure to point out that if you do, it has to be completely seasoned or it puts off a terrible resin...

Thanks for the responses. No, coffee certainly doesn't grow in Colorado! LOL Heck, it's tough enough to grow weeds at times!

I obtained some from a smoking wood supplier and it's been sitting around for a couple of years or so. I suppose it's pretty well dry by now.

More research might be in order if it gives off bad resins.
