I asked this in the FE Charbroiler forum without a specific answer so I'm hoping that this General Forum gets more traffic.

I recently took delivery of 400 lbs. of CS Fruitwood pellets but have no clue as to the woods that make up the pellets.

Does anyone know what woods are used and the % of each? Usually there is a main component like oak and then the flavor woods but I am not sure about the CS pellets.

Thanks.

I typically suggest folks call sales,or service to get the correct answer, rather than a bunch of guesses.

But,in earlier days, those made by Traegar out in the NW used an alder base. Those east of the "Big River" were oak.
I believe CS uses oak on the woods we have gotten for the last few years.

% may vary on the fruitwoods?
Sales may know, if they come from a different manufacturer.

Hopethis helps a little.
I know a few years ago, another company in the manufacture side did their own study,as to BTU s,ash, efficiency, etc.

I know some that just go into a gas grill for flavor, etc can be up to 100% fruitwood.

In a woodburning cooker ,the other items had to be addressed.

Seems like about the CS blend is where they worked well.I'm guessing all the fruitwood is about the same %.
Thanks folks.

I received an email from Tony at Cookshack informing me that the blend is 80% oak and 20% either apple or cherry.

A little bit different, but neither mentioned the Hickory that is mentioned on the Cookshack web page description of the Fruitwood pellets.

In any case, I have been using oak for decades in my other smokers so really enjoy its flavor. With some apple or cherry added, it's all good.

My cold smoked salmon was the tastiest I have eaten in years.
