I can tell some stories Tom,
and maybe a few photos (but there is a problem with the disk the Photographer gave me)....

but, a great time was had by all.

Results for the FIRST Cookshack contest team:

  • Overall: 14 out of 35

  • Chicken: 29 out of 33 (ouch, don't ask)

  • Ribs: 6 out of 33

  • Pork: 20 out of 33

  • Brisket: 5 out of 33

FIRST PLACE in the Dash for Cash, indeed an "Iron Chef" event where 10 teams were selected, given a bag of contents. 15 min for the team to discuss and 1 hour to cook on a Grill. Our winning entry was a stuff pork tenderloin with a spice rub crusted coating. And it even tasted as good as we though Smiler

Thanks to Stuart, Nick Nicholas, Papashaka and Smokin Jr for the help. Trying to learn all of the things we needed to learn and also time the entries...

Needless to say we learned a lot. We also had a GREAT time. Hopefully Stuart will hope in with his stories.

The weather sucked, it rained most of the time (no problem for our smokers) and it was cold.

Too many stories and lies about each of those entries to try to explain here.

It's a pretty busy day, I'll try to post a "longer" version of the stories, once I get caught up at work.
We did have a great group.

Nick was GREAT and helped us understand how to get everything in for the various turn in times, gave us ideas for presentation and overall COACHED us well.

DrBBQ was indeed a secret assistant. He'd talk with Stuart and gave a few ideas. Too bad I don't have the photos of the entries...that's the disk I'm having problems with.

Way to go guys,

Looks like you guys had some great results, and we're all proud of ya...I'm sure you had a great time and believe me, we have a great time visiting this forum and sharing ideas and experiences.
Maybe as time goes by and you enter more contest like this one, you can have a forum for people who want to try the cookoff and contest scene..
maybe a place for them to come and ask questions about turn in times and presentation and so on .. Oh well, just a thought.
Once again , congrats on the results

My bad,
I thought that there was a standard that is kept at all the BBQ contest..
You're right it would be hard to cover every single one of them.
This will be my first year at the Memphis in May cookoff...(as a spectator only)
I'm really looking forward to seeing all the diffrent types of set-ups that I've always heard about. (I just hope they let me take my camera and snap some photos)
