constant cycling

got my sm026up and running. just a quick question. it sounds like the heater is constantly cycleing, makes a little "clicking" noise as if turning on and off. is this normal? everything else seems great, about to crack it open after 14 hours, smoked fine, kept temp perfectly.

Perfectly normal for a digital temp controller. It constantly bumps the output to maintain steady temp. Older mechanical circuits stay on longer but tend to under/over shoot setpoint.

thanks, that is whati thought. pulled the picnic shoulder, wife loved it with smokin okie's sauce. did a boston butt last nite and getting ready to take out the bb ribs! gawd i love smoking!
