I did this to generate ideas about the contest reports. If I had known, I would have taken better pictures.
--------------------
The contest is held in conjuction with the King Biscuit Blues Festival (www.kingbiscuitfest.org)on Columbus Day weekend each year. The Biscuit is a premier blues festival and attacts fans from around the world. It is a great atmosphere when the air in the old river town fills with smoke and blues.

Sanctioning: It is not sanctioned. It kind of follows MIM rules. The major difference is the three onsite judges come at one time.

Categories: Whole Hog,Ribs,Shoulder

Entry Fee: $175

Site: The primary area is a grassy area at the base of the levee between the two stages. This year they gave the option of setting setting up on Main St. We took the Main St option and were happy with the decission. It offers easier set up for larger rigs and more interaction with crowds. If you prefer more distance from the crowds, go with the grassy area.

Utilities: Water is no problem. I haven't had a problem with electricity. The grassy area is a temporary grid while Main St is a permanent grid. Utilities are free.

Housing: The Lady Luck Casino across the river and the couple of motels in town get booked up very early. The fire department operates a campground just over the levee from the site.

Overall: We have done this contest as a end of season good time for the team. Without question it is the greatest setting in the world for a BBQ contest.
