I continually get plastic "fake" credit cards from some bank wanting my business.. I use them to scrape the flakey stuff off the top and sides so nothing drops on the meat. Sometimes I use one of those plastic "brillo pads" that are really softer pot cleaners you see at all the super markets. That works too.. but they aren't as easy to clean as the old credit card types.

BTW, don't scape itto death.. just get the flakey stuff off and wisk it out.
