T-Bone,

If you ordered a Cookshack you would recieve a booklet that includes seasoning instructions. They say to put in about 2-4oz. hickory and let the smoker run at 250* for about 4 hrs (I did mine for 5 hours). It cooks off any ill tasting manufacturing oils, etc. and begins the internal seasoning as well as sealing process. In fact, after several initial cooks; a few slabs of ribs and a few pork butts - I did it again anyway "just because".
