This is just my second time using our new smoker, and after re-reading the manual, I'm not sure smoke should be coming out from around the door of our smokette 009?

It really is not a problem. Mine did the same thing for a few smokes, and others did as well. Most if not all leakage will stop in time after unit goes through a few heat cycles.
Yes! This is normal. It will seal itself with use. Don't fret it, just have fun!

Anyhoo.. I don't believe your doors will ever really seal up.. and it's not an issue unless smoke is pouring out of it. I think any smoker has smoke coming out of doors unless there are rubber seals on them..
The smoke will slow down a bit after some time.. but, really, don't worry about it. I only see smoke coming out the door area when the sun is behind it.. otherwise, I never see it.
