I plan to call Cookshack Monday but any of you answer this? I've noticed the last two cooks I had the meat was black and there was a lot of soot in the cooking chamber. I removed the side cover and found the draft fan was not on when the auger was on or off. This condition is right from the start after pushing the start button and it never came on through the fire up cycle.
What's your thoughts?

Ok, I solved my problem. Putting a meter on the power supply showed 12 volts but the solid state relay was only putting out 4 volts. Must be a heavy load on the fan circuit. Then I noticed the fan getting hot and smelly. Sure enough the fan was shot. I drove down to my local Radio Shack and picked up replacement for $20.00 (273-0238). Good thing to know on the road. Putting it back together I noticed the auger kept stopping when I touched the wires. I found why my unit kept shutting down in the middle of a cook. Who ever put the motor connector together didn't push one pin in all the way and the connection was not stable.
All seems well now and I hope this stops my flame out, flame up and bon fire problems. I will get a factory replacement fan and keep this Radio Shack fan as an emergency part.
