Have to laugh, actually a good question.

You want your wood dry. Too much moisture and it will smolder and that's NOT the preferred method for smoking (although some smokers were told to soak their wood -- don't)

Try the wood, if it burns up too quick, still taste the meat before you adjust, it might be fine. Worse case is it will burn quickly and you might need more.
Thanks to everyone for your input. It has really helped. This is a fantastic forum. I have been reading a lot and learning as I go. I almost feel I am a vetern smoker just from what I've read and I haven't even started yet. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here. I know I will be asking for more advice in the future, I just hope you don't think my questions are to dumb. Thanks again, Jady
