Hello CS workers. I would like to extend the venting of my smokettte. I am wanting to do this because I will be creating a unit for it to be placed in and above the smoker will be drawers.

So O am looking to put in about a 8 - 11 inch extension with a 45% angle.

How will this affect the product cooked int he smoker?

Confused

1. Do a search for vent, this has come up before and I believe Stuart has commented before.

Don't do it. The posts will tell you it's not a problem for the finished product, it's a problem for the CS itself. It's not designed to have the vent hole extended.

The only official solution is to add a vent hood and extend that out where you need to.
When you are venting your Cookshack smoker, there always needs to be an air break between the vent on the oven and the bottom of the pipe used to discharge the smoke. If you connect the pipe directly to the oven it will change the way the oven cooks and the results will not be as good. The best design to vent your Cookshack is just like gas water heaters are vented. Take a look at one the next time you have a chance.
jerry's got it right. I got a flexible aluminum dryer vent at the HW store and attached it to the wall next to the window. one end goes out the window when I cook, the other get gets suspended about an inch above the top vent of the smokette. works pretty well. the air space helps create a draft that pulls smoke up and out. except when the wind blows the smoke back in the garage Big Grin

nuthin's perfect (well, an $800 pro hood would be close)
