I am getting ready to purchase an FEC100 and already own a 6x12 cargo trailer that i can use to haul it to a few competitions this year.
Are there any restrictions against or practical reasons not to set it up to use on the trailer (by venting the smoke throug a hole in the side)?
I have searched the forums and a popular method, it seems, is to level the ramp and smoke on it. Any ideas or comments will be appreciated?
Thanks,
CP

The ones I've seen that make it work create a "partition" between the smoking area and the rest of the trainer. It's not perfect, but it helps, but smoke WILL get inside the trailer, unless you add a large vent fan to draw out the smoke when the door is opened.

I just open my trailer, put the back ramp on jacks and put the smokers on the ramp. I have two packing blankets hung across the back to keep the smoke out and it gives me plenty of sleeping/work space.
I got the idea for the blankets from Candy Sue. For mine, I just made my own grommets (bought a kit at the crafts store). I put a heavy rod (to hold the weight of the blankets) across the very back and as high as I could. Used shower curtain rods to hold them

In travel I just push them to the side, run the smokers out the back and close the blankets.

The neat idea is that on cold nights, they work pretty well to keep the heater/heat inside the trailer and the smoke and cold outside

Probably cost me $20. The blankets were free
Quilted moving blanket works great and you can probably get one the exact size of your opening. After 4 years, I'm getting ready to replace mine. Just grommet it to reinforce the hang holes. I didn't bother with the shower curtain rods. I've got pieces of a wire clothes hanger that hook right on to the top of the back of the trailer. It's not hard to slide a couple over to get out.
Lots of times if there's no bad weather or there's a nice tree for shade, I won't bother putting the canopy up. I have a Caravan and it's a bit taller in the legs than an EZ Up. However, I have seen leg extenders that screw into the legs or use filled with water 5 gallon buckets (dual use -- good for weight too). But I'm a short person, so short doesn't much matter to me. In a real storm I attach a strap to the FEC to the canopy. Made it through a cookoff in Hurricane Rita some years ago.

By the way, Harbor Freight has movers blankets 72 x 60 for 6.99 (item # 93156-3RDH) internet only -- harborfreight.com.
I have an awning on the back of the trailer like the outback awning from colorado care free. I built it myself and works great. thats when its warm and nice out and it works great. I also have a hole in the roof with roof cap that i can use if really cold outside. I used dryer vent from the smoker to the roof and works great. It was the best in Lakeland when in was in the thirties and i stayed toasty warm. It does get smoke in the trailer when you open the door but you can crack the back door or use fans.

I never take my Cookshack cover off of mine. Save me having to polish the other sides too! Cool If it's only a light rain, Iwon't even set up my extra Ez-Up. I'll just pull the smoker closer to my awning on my RV. My other FE never leaves the back toyhauler part of my RV.

But those covers are highly recommended!!! I love mine. Very heavy duty too!
Flood or tornado... Tornado or flood...

While you guys were drowning in Fairbanks we got (almost) hit by a tornado in DeForest. This year we're going to Fairbanks, so we'll meet you guys there. According to my wife I should be safe there if it floods again. She tells me bulls**t floats.
