I have an older FEC. It originally had the three possition Traeger control and the bottom of the hopper unit was open.

I have since retrofitted to the ICQ controler. The fan air intake is on the side and the bottom of the hopper area is solid. The only way to get air is from the vent on the side.

The cover is solid over this.
You can always use some chickenwire, and fabricate a little shield standoff to keep the cover from blocking all your holes, and probally it will give proper ventilation that way, of course this is only an educated guess to see if it helps your situation.

Good luck with the new FEC 100.
Two thoughts would be.

First wait and see if you have a problem-before you try to come up with a solution.

Second,if you do have a problem, call Tony in service,or email Fast Eddy.

That way ,you get someone with experience and the tech knowledge to address the situation, rather than us giving you solutions to what may not be a problem. Wink
There won't be that many times when you use it with the cover on.

What I do, is unzip the front, throw the flap over the top and leave the cover on the top and sides. Doing this, it doesn't fit light a glove but it does protect the vital parts

If you HAVE to operate it with the cover close? Hmmm. The cover is made for the new models, not the old models, and a most you just need to create a "gap". I'll have to think about this, but something as simple as an empty soda can wedged in there to give the fan room to breathe.
Now Tom...

Go easy on NUPOC, he's a Floridian like you too.

I think the problem is as simple as trying to have one cover for a cooker that has gone through several versions. Impossible to keep all the old style covers, etc in stock.

I have that problem with one of mine. Someone STOLE a cover on an old version at a comp and I don't have a replacement for it.
