I bought my 009 in April and used it at least once a week through late fall, but since it's been cold I haven't used it. I'm craving pulled pork, so I bought a 7.5 pound shoulder today, covered it with some Head Country Rub and into the smoker it went. Hopefully it will be ready for lunch on Sunday! Many others have posted about having no problems in cold weather, so I'm anxious to see for myself. The ground is covered with snow, it's 24 degrees now and will get down in the teens overnight.

The pulled pork turned out great. Typically pork butts take about 18 hours in my 009. I put this one in at 4 PM Saturday and when I checked it at 9 AM this morning it was at 198 degrees, so I pulled it out. I double wrapped it in foil, then a heavy towel and put it in a cooler. When we got home from church at noon, we had great pulled pork sandwiches. My kids are often picky, but when I pull things out of the Cookshack, they're ready to eat!
You're right GLH. I'm a real fan of the Smokette. I waited longer than I should have to buy one because I was reluctant to spend that kind of money on a smoker. I may never have bought one except I had to do something with my Cabela's points! You usually get what you pay for, however, and the money I paid for this smoker was money well spent.
Living in MN the winters get cold, but my smoking has neither ceased, been interrupted, nor been cold (not referring to cold smokingSmiler. Last year I loaded a pork shoulder at 7am on a Saturday morning when the temp. was -5. Be sure to wear gloves as your hands will freeze to the inside of the smoker...the foil does not hold well on the frozen surface, but besides that the smoker worked just fine. The smoking took no longer...I figured an extra 15 min to get it up to temp...other than that it took no longer than normal. I smoked a ham and ribs this Christmas in the falling snow (I have photos to prove it)...the temp was around 20 and my timing was perfect...again demonstrating that the world's best smoker works without interruption in the cold climate of MN.
