Has anyone tried the 5 grill side racks for the smokette? I have looked at some other posts and I seen where some people had ordered them and I was just wondering if they were worth the money. What I want with them for is cooking ribs. If they work for that I it would give me the extra room I need for a low price.

I bought a Smokette in Sep 2003 and learned about the 5 rack option on this forum. Ordered the upgrade some time early last year. When I ordered my second Smokette in Sep of last year I went ahead and ordered the upgrade with it. The 5 shelf slots really seems to give you a lot more options and you can cook a lot more ribs using it.
I bought the 5 rack holders and love them. It gives me a LOT more adjustability and allows me to fill my 008 more efficiently. I havent used my 3 racker since I bought the 5. And I have 10 jerky screens I can easily get in my 008 now. I think you will be very happy with the purchase.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered the 5 grill side rack for my smokette, and two more grills. I will let you know how it works on ribs. If this works as well as I hope, I won't need to figure a way to sweet talk the wife into a model 50 for a little while :-) but the time will come.
Any generic rib rack will work. The cheap ones are at Home Depot for not much more than $5. BBQ specialty stores or Web sites will have more variety. They're pretty popular--I'm surprised nobody else mentioned them before I did.

Go to www.google.com and search on "Rib Racks" and you'll get lots of hits. Amazon even offers a few models.

Good luck.
Sorry I was confused, I was thinking they were some kind of rack that attached to the sides of the CS. I welded up some "rib" racks was bored, made them 5 across. I think I still like them flat bone side up for the moisture retention but have to for go that for mass food production.
The grill racks and two extra grills just arrived, good service only ordered it on Monday. If I get a chance this weekend I will let you know how it works on ribs :-). I bet it will do good on boneless skinless chicken breast, if so you could load a ton on it. Any ways it will give me more options as to grill location when I am cooking
