I own a Smokette and this forum has been VERY helpful for me. I cooked an 8 pound Boston Butt, and expected it to take around 16-18 hours (to reach 195 -200 degrees) at 225 degrees. After 12 hours the temperature was 154 degrees, which seemed on the right schedule. After 17 hours the temperature was still 154 degrees (verified with another electronic probe). The unit is plugged directly into a 20 amp circuit that is still working fine (also verified the circuit). I did notice there was very little heat coming out of the vent hole, and the heating element area did not appear to be very hot. The door to the smokette was never opened during the 17 hours. Tomorrow I am going to turn the smokette on to 250 and put a temp probe in it (empty, of course) and check it. Does this sound like the heating element or thermostat? The smoker is only two weeks old and worked fine for ribs & chicken (this is the first long cook).
Thanks for your help...
