Help about wood

Hi everyone, I am a new-bee here and have a question, I just bought a Smokette II and getting ready to properly season it. Everytime I "smoked" in the past I had to soak the wood in water. I am following the book that came with the Smokett II and it doesn't mention anything about this. Is it not necessary to soak the wood before use???

No, don't soak it.

Unlike other smokers, the CS doesn't use the wood for heat, but for smoke only. So you can let it burn and it will smoke, without doing the water trick.
