I turned my FEC100 on tonight to let in warm up so I could clean it before I leave for a contest in the morning. I set it to 300 and go out an hour later and its at 94 with no fire. Reset it and do it again with the same result. I just took out all the pellets and cleaned out the auger, but there really wasn't alot of dust in there.

Any thoughts, I am getting worried!

Hey Smokin,

Will the igniters burn off on the ends over time?? Or do they move?

Mine seems to be shorter than when it was new, by maybe a half inch or more. My newest one comes out nearly to the center of the pot, but the older oone barely makes it in side the pot.

I have two, and if I need both I light the newer one and then take tongs and move over the burning pellets to the other.

Any suggestions. I have not called yet, just been putting it off.

Thanks for the help guys. I think the problem was in the fire pot. The air hole(I think thats what it is) was clogged. It would ignight and then just die down and eventually the new pellets being dumped would just pile up.

Another question: Is it normal for the auger to make a grinding sound? It kinda sounds like a squeaky rocking chair when it turning. Can you go in and lube it?

Nope, no lube. What USUALLY is happening is that pellets are getting crunched during the feed portion.

Not that i know of, it's not like it's burns itself up over time. In my 4 year old ones, the ignitor is the same size. But, some ignitors are different sizes, so you maybe have size 1 in one FE and size 2 in another (sizes were different depending on when you purchase, not by design)

the #1 killer of ignitors is pellet crete. It doesn't have to get wet, but if you don't clean out the pot REAL GOOD then it builds up and get's very solid.

I'll call CS Randy if you're having ignitor issues, maybe it is something that works as you describe.
