A pork shoulder is just the butt and a picnic joined together. Does it have skin on the picnic end. That end will have more of a ham texture and better a different texture than butt.
intowin, Your pork shoulder will be fine for pulled pork. The main difference is you will have alot more of it. The size will require a different approach to the cook as well as more time. My main advice on a big cut is to bring up the oven temp gradually rather than all at once.
