I would like to see a CookShack electric smoker unit before I buy one. I live in Southern California (in the Lake Forest/Mission Viejo/Irvine area). Is there an Orange Co resident that would show me their Cookshack electric smoker unit ? I am not particular about the model (yet).

I don't want to make a 'blind' smoker purchase. I cannot find a Cookshack retailer in Orange County California, and customer service did not help me much. We have been using wood chips in our Weber BBQ for 20+ years and purchased a Bradley smoker unit ~ 6-7 years ago (not sturdy and needing regular replacement parts). Please leave a message here, and we can discuss a convenient time/date.

I'm nowhere near you so a visit is out of the question. I will say however that my brother in law has a Bradley, my son has a Weber Kettle and I have a CS SM045. Everyone who has seen it is very impressed with both the quality of the constuction and design, both my b in law, and son have plans to upgrade to a Cookshack soon.

Sometimes you just need to do the research and make a leap of faith. I'm happy with my decision.
I went from a Brinkman charcoal/wood unit and haven't regretted it one bit.

There, you have my 2 cents!
Bloke,

Come in and stay a while. We have a few California smokers in the forum, so they'll drop by and we'll see where they live. You know to the rest of the US, everyone in California is close to each other.

Don't forget, as a last step, that CS has a money back guarantee, just for that reason, to allow you to decide.

What specifically are you wanting to smoke?

Hi Mr. SmokinOkie.

I have had some good luck with Chuck roasts, beef brisket, Pork Butts, Pork Ribs, chickens, turkeys, gamehens, trout fillets, salmon fillets etc. I just got tired of ordering replacement parts for the Bradley, and wanted to look into other options.
For what it's worth I have an FEC100 from Cookshack and absolutley love it! I have been through the plant where all of their smokers are made and it is very impressive in the quality of smoker they produce. I have also met several of their employees and the GM Stuart Powell and you won't find a better group of people to deal with! Any problems at all and they are very helpful and quick to respond to any questions or problems that you may have. Like Smokin Okie said they have a 30 day return policy so you really have nothin to lose but I would have to say that with the quality product they have that they have very few if any returns! Good luck and I know you would be very pleased with anything you purchased from Cookshack. I have been so pleased with the FEC100 that I have a PG500 on order.
That would have happened since before last Thanksgiving. I bought my new SM-045 from the Boise, Idaho Cabela's then. I think that the big problem with Cabela's that often happens with big stores like this, is they have people that have never run a smoker selling the product, and making minimum wage. I actually knew what I was buying, and bought it on line at a 10% discount with free shipping to the Boise store. i now think I would have saved money buying direct from Cookshack.
