Hi,
I was wondering how much something like this would weigh?

http://www.trailer-tech.com/150643.html

the reason i ask this is because my 1989 dodge raider will be biting the dust soon, and my next vehicle might be a truck. so it got me thinking, if i eventually buy a trailer, would I be able to tow it later on.

thanks.

bbqnj,
we have a trailer tech tt818. we tow it with a ram1500 quadcab with factory tow pack and std v8.
to get an exact weight just call alex alverez at trailer tech and he can give you all the weight and technical info.
i can say this much we have been very well pleased by the quality of trailer tech and i am sure that you will find alex to be most helpful

i still cant figure out trailer weight vs tongue weight.
i guess to satisfy my curiousity i will tow the rig to the truck stop weight the whole darned affair, tow the rig back to the storage place and then just weigh the truck.
i guess if i subtract the difference i will know what my trailer weighs.
but in a way i am afraid to do that if it turns out my 1500 isn't big enough to tow it lol.
put me down for 4300 pounds even.

ps. what's the prize if we win this pool?? Eeker
PC313-

To get your tongue wt: pull your truck off the scale until the back wheels are off and traier is competely over the scale.

Now weigh the trailer; Unhook the ball and coupler with the jack on the scale and jack it up and reweigh. Subract the trailer wheels from the wheels + jack= tongue wt.

Make sure you have plenty of tongue weiht or your trailer bounce and "sail".

We used to weigh NP&K out of the fertilizer plant like that.

Hi Everyone,

I want to get into the catering business
At first I will only be able to do it on weekends
After it takes off then I hope to be able to quit my current job, to do BBQ full time and open a restaurant.

One of the problems is that Los Angeles CA has very strict health codes.

The health inspector has no problem with the smoker.

Most of the trailer manufactures here want a lot of money to build a 24 foot trailer.

I have talked with Alex at Trailer Tech he is real nice and very knowledgeable there quote is really good.

But I'm concerned that after I spend the money and get the trailer that it will pass inspection here.

Faxed Alex the paper work from the health dept.
He says no problem they can do the job.

I want to put have a 750 FEC inside of the trailer.
2 basket deep fryer.
2 burner stove.
Standard girdle.
Large steam table.
Cold table.
Refrigerator and Freezer.
Air Conditioner.
Honda Generator
Etc.

CookShack makes great Smokers.
The customer service is the best : )

Using there smokers is key to me.
Right now I have a CookShack Smokete,
It makes the best BBQ I have ever had.

I have not had any good bbq here most of them par boil and gril.

I will be at the CookShack Class Dec 1st and 2nd.

I know that this will be a lot of work at first.
This form has so much great info.
hi prisonchef,
I saw pictures of your rig and its awesome. now i feel that the the trailer i was looking at may be to small to fit some of the stuff i plan on having. now your dodge is fine for pulling your trailer? i see that the trailer can handle up to 12000 pounds, and i know that the entry level trucks like the dodge, fords, and the nissan titan can tow around 9000 pds.

thanks,

bbqnj,
now you know why i haven't weighted the rig. Eeker
seriously, florida is flat i mean like a pool table flat for the most part.
the 1500 will tow it at 65 no problem. thruthfully i am sure it would go faster but i just dont feel comfortable over that so thats what i go.
if i nail the ruck from a stop light it will bury most small cars but why bother.
it does not sway in a high wind (25mph plus).
am i a little small in the truck department?? i guess i am but i also think that a lot of it is i really want a 3500 with the cummins motor but since i dont have to tow in the mountains the rig i have works fine
hope it helps some
i know my post won't help me a bit if peggy reads this as i have been whining i need the 3500

jack,
you just bought another smoker! no new truck!

bbqnj,
One of the things we were told here is that you need a special fire suppression system if you have a fryer. That wasn't a problem for us because we didn't want a fryer in the trailer. But you might want to check out the price of the system that will pass code in your state.

And Jack is a great tower. I haven't hit the brakes on the passenger side of the truck in a long time!

Peggy
