I have just gotten back into contact with all the folks that we gave butts to,over the holidays.

These were by far the best reviewed food gifts we have ever given.

We sometimes brine whole breasts and give them, but nobody had sales this year.

We figured folks get all the turkey and ham they want over Thanksgiving,so we'd be different.

Butts were less than $0.80/lb by the case at Sam's.[7.5 lb=about $6]

For those folks that may not get your Q and you give those under $10 gifts, this works well.

We cooked as usual, double heavy foiled, cooled down and refrigerated.

We gave a small bottle of Carolina vinegar sauce,a small bottle of rub,and a bottle of mustard based sauce[they don't see this in FL]

We gave a short instruction sheet to place in a preheated 250 oven, until 140+ internal.[guessed it would take around 2 hrs]

Let set 20 mins,open foil,remove bone,pull pork to a bowl,discard foil and minimal waste.

Mix in vinegar sauce and rub to taste.

Serve with mustard sauce on the side.

Placed all in a Holiday paper bag.

Some folks froze them a few days and then defrosted, others ate soon.

The instructions worked for all and they were amazed about the quality of a whole butt.[We were pleasantly surprised that they would follow the instructions]

BTW, Smokin's Carolina Vinegar and Mustard sauces would work well for this.

At Christmas I gave a whole rack of hot ribs, foiled up tight, to my auto mechanic and to the guys at the hardware store. I bring the hardware guys brisket, pulled pork, ribs, whatever, from time to time. btw, did I mention he is a weber dealer lol. as you can image, I don't often pay full price in that store.

momma didn't raise no fool... Big Grin
