I am not the crafty type, but I decided to make holiday gift baskets this year. They turned out so cute that I wanted to share with everyone else.
I love smoked stuffed jalapeno peppers, and this is sort of a kit.
I guess you would call them Armadillo Chile Grill Gift Baskets. Here's a photo:
Here's another photo of the contents:
I accomplished this with trips to Hobby Lobby and Albertson's (and of course I ordered the Chile Grill from Cookshack!). I bought a basket, 4 "hot pepper" bandanas (as napkins), and some faux peppers from Hobby Lobby. (They didn't have jalapenos so I had to settle for the ones in the photo.) I bought a corer/peeler, canned crab, and toothpicks from Albertson's. (The crab is for the recipe, see below.)
To assemble, I lined the basket with one of the napkin/bandanas. Then I put in the armadillo grill with his little nose sticking out, and assembled the rest of the contents around him.
The only thing missing is a card I am going to make with the recipe for Mesquite Smoked Jalapeno Poppers. I have tried to put in a link here, but I can't get it to work, so if you want the recipe, just email me at the address at the end of the message.
This was fun to do, and I know the people who get these baskets are going to be tickled pink. I have served these poppers at parties, and I hardly get the Armadillo out of the smoker before the Poppers have been snatched right out of it.
Happy holidays,
Donna
PS To order a grill, call Cookshack at 1-800-423-0698 and ask for a One Dozen Armadillo Chile Grill. I think they are around $24 or $25.
