Didn't know if your friend meant figuratively or literally.

Hottest? Not even close. I'll let the chile heads jump in.

The one on that site is 1.5 million scoville's.

The Source is rated at 7.1 million scoville's and it's not even the hottest.

Check out this list for Hottest, the hottest is at 16 million scovilles. For reference a Jalapeno is about 2,500 to 10,000

Hottest Hot Sauce
RaiderBill,I have'nt tried this brand, but I have tried Da Bomb(the final answer) I like to kick stuff up a notch but, the da bomb that s#$* is like battery acid it also measures 1,500,000 scoville units.it's ok to mix with something but not by itself.if you do I am talking emergency room hurt,& not band aid hurt if you know what I mean.God knows what would happen to you if you tried the sauce that smokinokie is talking about.
Some of them are just outrageous. I got a bottle of Dave's Insanity Sauce (were they calling me insane?) as a gift about 7 years ago. I don't know how many scoville units it is... I just know its above my pain threshold. It's still more than 3/4's full. If you use any more than a drop, your body is on fire!

I keep it around as a convenient equalizer when somebody brags about how hot they love their sauce. I have them put a bit on a tip of a toothpick and try it. Then the fun begins!
If they drink water, it gets even worse!

I've mellowed from my previous hot sauce explorations while I still have a stomach lining. Stick with good simple stuff like Tabasco, Tabasco Chipotle, Franks, Pickapepper sauce.
Great list Smokin! I hadnt seen that before and wasnt aware of the extreme heat sources. I keep some of the Blair's After Death sauce, Mad Dog Inferno sauce, Smack my Azz, and a couple of others around for heat. But I was unaware of the number of sauces OVER 700,000 SU. Looks to me like I need to update my "heat" cabinet. Thanks again!

Here is one scale that is used:

Scoville Heat Rating

Bell/Pimento 0
Cherry/Pepperoncini 100 - 500
New Mexico 500 - 1000
Poblano/Ancho/Pasilla 1000 - 1500
Rocotillo/Numex Big Jim 1500 - 2500
Jalapeno/Mirasol 2500 - 5000
Chipotle/Yellow Wax/Serrano 5000 - 15000
Manzano/De Arbol 15000 - 30000
Cayenne/Tabasco 30000 - 50000
Thai/Piquin 50000 - 100,000
Habanero/Scotch Bonnet/Birds Eye 100,000 - 350,000
Red Savina Habanero 350,000 - 600,000
Pure Capsaicin 16 Million
Yikes - I cannot imagine even sampling anything higher.

It must take rust off bumpers, or, disintegrate a bumper altogether.

The first I tried Dave's Insanity, I put quite a few drops on some chicken, like I would do with say, Franks hot sauce. The next thing I know, I was in a full sweat and praying that my tongue wouldn't develop a hole in it. My heart starting beating faster. Drinking 2 quarts of milk and eating 6 slices of bread barely helped.

The next day, well. You know where the pain was the next day.

More power to those who can bear the heat. Be careful with this million scoville unit stuff.

Guess I'm getting old and would rather have something that complements my food, not overpowers it.
I have #17 on the list -- Satan's Blood Chile Extract which is a food additive and is SU 800,000 -- I cannot imagine anything hotter than that -- did a toothpick tip dipped in it and stirred through some clams casino mix -- enough for 6 clams -- well -- I lost my voice for a day and a friend almost passed out because it took his breath away. I will use it in chili and such though -- I love hot stuff and the endorphins are a rush.

My hot sauce pantry grows slowly as friends find new stuff to buy for me. Too bad DH doesn't like hot food.
