I've done it many times. In many old recipes it suggests adding "liquid smoke." To me LS is a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y- the most nasty tasting ingredient I've seen and it leaves a really weird after taste.

Tom is exactly right. Use the shallow pans. Smoke some and sample it every so often to see how much smoke flavor it adds.

The simplest recipe is Baked Beans. Many of those recipes mention LS, but put beans in a smoker, it really does make a difference.

Not sure if you wanted them, but since I brought them up and you're new here...(I did a simple search in the recipes only and found a few.
