I'm one of the newbies - if you happen to watch that list, I just popped up a couple days ago. Have been lurking as a "guest" for quite some time though, as I went thru the process of sorting thru all the pretenders out there (read competitors to CS) in order to make my choice for a first smoker - just ordered an 008 this morning so needless to say, I have a lot to learn about this art and promise to read old postings and search the archives before asking a question that's been answered many times already. I do have to say that like others, I'm impressed by the ferocity with which you all recommend and defend these products and I admit that it did influence my decision - to that end, THANKS !!
So, while they begin the process of trucking the little mutha out to me here in the high Sierra, I've begun reading the 101's and doing random archive searches and beginning my own list of commandments:
- always check the outlet
- Don't forget the drip pan - before AND after as there's critters in theses here mtns
- use a LITTLE wood
- Don't open the door - it's why man invented thermometers
- it'll be done when it's done - and not a moment sooner
I'm sure you guys (and ladies) will want to add to that list but simpler is better for me .... LOL !!
