I have been pedaling through the forums looking for a thread on smoker stogarage. No luck so I decided to post.

I will be keeping my Smokette year round on my uncovered Chicago deck with a Smokeshack cover. CS said that was acceptable.

I was wondering though, do ost people close the door when not in use? The instructions say to keep opn, but it it really puts a lot of pull on the cover and also makes it hard to put on.

I am new to smoking, not to cooking though. So I have been reding more than contributing. If there is ever a homestyle italian thread I will be all over it!

I have kept mine closed on several CS cookers ,for several years, here by the beach in south FL.

When I had only a Smokette, along with assorted grills,I cooked in it at least weekly.

We live in a nightly salt moisture shower/pretty high humidity.

I have used the top notch Cookshack covers, also.

That said,I have found retained moisture??,caused mold/mildew on the interior walls,if not used for some months.

I now place an opened ,partial bag of cat litter,in an Al disposable 1/2 pan ,on a shelf in the cooker.

I guess a box of baking soda would work?

I just set it out when I cook, and set back in ,after I do the minimal cleanup.

Works well for me,and I have never heard of this being a problem for anyone else, since the forums began.

Hope this helps a little.
