You will definately want a low CFM low Speed fan. something that merely causes a waft of air. otherwise you will have more problems than you can think of.

I would look at a small Computer fan. and fashion it at the end of the duct to create a draft. Once the heat starts to draft, the smoke will migrate in that direction in a manner that will not affect what the FEC was designed to do.

You should start out with soome type of variable speed one and do some smoke tests or scent tests.
It seems that if your pulling air out, then your going to pull it into the fire pot, and throught grease outlets. It seems it counld throw off the settings on the IQ controller.

The blowers will not run all the time, but the exhaust fan will.

I would also look at the enviroment your placing the fan. the moisture and the grease could easily kill a computer fan.

Found it in the Auto Draft section (no search on the website) and the price is $199.95. It also doesn't show the CFM.

One thing to keep in mind, whatever you use. It WILL get grease/smoke collecting on it, so you'll have to clean it and maybe replace it at some point.
Thanks Stuart! That looks like a good one and I think I will give it a try. I certainly appreciate your follow up and outstanding customer service!! I have to say I absolutly love my new FEC 100 and thanks for such a great American made product!! By far the best smoker I have ever used!! Just ordered a case of brisket to practice with after they age for 40-50-days to go along with the case of PR I am already aging. Russ is so much help on this forum as well. My friends and I are certainly going to eat well for a long time.
