Hey all,
I just got my new FE500 home and can't find any instructions on the IQ4!!! I read the IQ4 help section and it didn't help.
My problem is I'm doing some ribs and I hit "reset", then "ribs" and "start". The readout said "3 hours". Is that right? On my FE100 it takes 4 hrs, and in IQ4 help someone said it is 4 hours. Am I doing something wrong.
An instruction manual for the IQ4 would be a nice addition for the amount of $ these things cost.

I had a FEC500 and the first thing I found out was that the pit cooks much faster than the 100 due to the convection fan. I don't have an IQ4, but can you set it manually for an amount of time? But keep an eye on the meat. It will surprise you.

Don't go with the default settings (the standard buttons).

Turn the unit on

Set time

Set temp

Start.

In other words, go with what I know, not what the machine is set for?

It may be a bit tricky at first, on my IQU I have to push the heat and time buttons really hard for them to work. The brisket button will give you 224 for ten hours so that's a good go to. (Soft ware version FE46) I have a feeling they really programed these things so the newest kid in the kitchen can load food and fire it up with 30 seconds job briefing (in a language of your choice).

On the previous versions of the IQ, I never used the presets. Glad one works for you ZBO.

Ribs would be tough, spares (trimmed or not) or BB?

Now, if I could only program them to MY specs, I'd be happy.
