I just picked up a very nice, clean used 1 yr old FEC100. Would love to play with my new toy today (Sunday) but am waiting for the instuctions to be emailed from Cook Shack, which by the way has sent two emails to me on Sunday morning, what great customer support!!!!

Any guidance or suggestions or should I just play ( I am leaning toward the later!) You know boys and new toys.

thanks
Scott

Just play... can't believe with a smoker that close you could wait.

Load with pellets.

1. Turn on the master switch. Wait about 5 sec

2. Set temp for smoker

3. Set time for smoke (default is 3 hours, I think, so up it)

4. Start

I check the CS site, and there is an FEC100 Owner's Manual, but not an IQ Owner's manual. You COULD look at the 100/200/300 series, as they have an IQ3 and you can get the basic instructions.

Residential Owners Manuals

Commercial series Owners Manuals
Thanks for the help, I went out and started playing with the buttons and the end result was some great chicken for supper and a load of butts to pull about midnight.

I can't say enough good about the helpfulness of this forum and CS sunday service.

My biggest problem with the IQ.

1. Forgetting to extend the cook time duration

Now a "secret" a lot of people use is reverese the two temps.

Say you want to cook on smoke for a while and finish on a higher temp.

Here's what I do in comps.

Set the cook temp at 180, and time at 4 hours, then set hold for 250.

When four hours hits, it "holds" at 250.

Now I REALLY don't have to get up in the night.
John, This weekend in Palatka, then on to Mobile. Test tomorrow, ribs, chicken and brisket.
You've got that right Russ, it's not bad, but put on the pants, put some shoes on, tell the dog it's not time to get up. Then reverse the whole thing. It's hard when you are my age (68).
