Heck, that is like the one I just installed in my RV to run my back-up commercial fridge...

I bought my Invertor from Sam's Club. It cost under $30... My suggestion is to spend more money on a gel battery than buying a expensive inverotr. As long as it's clean sine waves, you are good. PM me if you want the exact model I got from Sam's. But it works great. I even bought another one, just because it was on clearance...
Thanks Tom,

That is what I was concerned with. But this is a good deal and ask my wife, I have a hard time passing up good deals.

I will look a smaller size inverter.

BTW, how do most carry, set up and store their battery inverter combo. A lot of the old posts, now have red x where the pictue of the set up was.

I know the inverter has a fan to cool, but I was wondering how to make it slick and self contained and weather proof.

Thanks

David

What's overkill?

I have that exact one, hooked up to two marine deep cycles and run TWO FE's on it.

Seems like you need to get a 2nd FE now that you have extra capacity

FYI, I love the unit, performs perfectly for me (I'd say about 3 or 4 times at contests, some YAHOOO starts his coffee pot on Sat morning and knocks the Breakers out at the contest. The unit never misses a beat
That YaHoo is usually my wife and her hairdryer. She came out, Why does the power keep going out.

Umm, it is you dear. Smiler

That is why I try to stay self contained. I have been running a small compresser, 12v battery to run the stoker on my stumps and it works fine.

But I know the FEC pulls a little more than a 4 cfm fan on the stoker. So, just trying to get ahead of the curve.
Using 2 sams deep cycle marine with a Freedom Combi 25. Carries everything but the AC in my cooking trailer. It keeps the batteries charged and have it setup with both outputs separated, 1 to the fec and the other for all other items. Have never had an issue with power loss and with testing, found that the setup would even run the roof ac for about an hour on the batteries. Can never have too much but you can have too little.
Tom,
This setup is one listed in the manual. It is SIMPLE. Private email me and I will give you my phone and work with anyone on setup and use. 45 years as an electical engineer with teaching experience probably qualifies me for this. Any one can do it safely and properly. Using the inverters at sams is marginally, it did not carry mine even though listed as 750 watts and I tried 2 of them. They are for sale for free, just pay shipping. Just an observation

Mack,

I think it would be a GREAT idea for a writeup. Can you do one with photos. You've got a ton of knowledge about electrical that we need to put to good use around here.

Did you get the water heater fixed? That's another idea of yours I like.
Just for reference, I did end up buying the Tripp lite. It is new in the box and I got it for $80.00. Could not pass that up. I also won a bid for 15 dollars for the 500 watt inverter from sams.

Near as I can figure, I saved a couple hundred and it will cost me a few grand. As I now have capacity for another FEC.

I would still like to see the carrying options from the ones that kept it portable. But I might just wire into the toy hauler somewhere. Heck, I would like to see the pictures of them wired in for ideas too.

Thanks

David
