I just got my smokette Friday at 430. By 4:45 it was being seasoned as per the book. At 8:30 I opened the smokette. All of the wood was now ash.

By 9pm I had an 8.5 pound picnic in the smokette. My question is: Is it normal for all the wood to have burned away so quickly, just slow cooking with heat, after about 4 hours?

Can't wait to get up in the morning and check it out!

It is normal for that to happen. And I agree, you will not be disappointed. I've had my Smokette a little over a month and I'm extremely happy that I bought it.

Today I'm doing a whole chicken using the Chicken Rocket filled with marinade and tomorrow I think it's gonna be either ribs or pulled pork for the football games.

Let us know how your shoulder comes out.
