Smokin' Okie got me going on a Smoking Journal. You would not believe how much it helps.
In essence, it is a log of:
Date:
Type of Meat:
Weight of Meat:
Smoking Temperature:
Wood Type:
Wood Amount:
Preparation: Rubs, brines, or marinades - what types, if any, and how long
Any other special comments:
I also keep a Time/Temp log of the oven and meat. I just go out and read the Polders every x minutes/hours.
Finishing Comments/Results: here I write down how it came out, how it tasted and what, if anything, I would try different next time.
Those are the things that I keep track of. I cannot tell you how many times I refer to these notes.
I made a blank template and made copies. I would post it for you to download, but we do not have that ability yet according to Smokin' Okie.
