Pretty hard to smoke or do anything outside when the outdoor temp is presently -30º F. Brrrrrrr & Grrrrr.
Up in International Falls, Minnesota the temp is -37º and that's without the windchill factored in.
I hate winter.

Yeh, it was only 48 down here yesterday but I was still able to get a whole beef tenderloin on the FE to cook. It came out great!

Plus it was a prime beef tenderloin that I got from Sam's Club. My meat guy explained that some of the Sam's Clubs are testing out prime meats for sale. They have prime filet mignon, NY strip, and ribeye for sale. Well I thought I would ask if I could get a whole prime beef tenderloin and he said yes. It was $10.88 per lb. for a 6 1/2 lber. and it was great.

My meat guy tells me that the prime program is going very well at their location so maybe all the rest will have prime soon.

Wow. They may be insulated, but it's got to be hard to smoke when the smoker door is frozen shut. I remember back in Chicago when the temp got below 0* the car was stiff till she warmed up.

Hopefully, good news on the Sam's prime cuts Ribdog.

Yea, you gotta love it here in California. Despite the politics, it's still a great place to live. It will get up to almost +60 today and in an hour's drive, I will be skiing at a world class ski resort. Best of both worlds; the snow AND the sun. My son in San Diego says they are predicted to hit in the 70's today.
Oh, and the surf is big this week too.
Never been a better time to buy California real estate. I can't imagine retiring in a climate that hits -30. It would kill me!!

Did a 23 lb turkey Friday and last night I started to cure another 15 lbs of jerky; Inferno, Sweet and Spicy, and Western Pepperoni. In my shorts to boot! Ha!

yea, Its 10* and another 4" of snow some people would call this paradise, but to me its off season. cann't wait for spring,crappie fishing, mushroom hunting, and maybe a wild turkey to smoke. I guess if it was nice all the time I would really be runned down, seems like winter lets me recharge.

I golfed today. Came home to nice, hot split pea soup with ham. Afterall, it was almost 60* like skipro said. Loading up on almonds and getting some more london broil for jerky tomorrow.
