with Stand. Part of me cringed at the payment, but I know from experience with my grill, that buying something over and over isn't fun. So my MES that seems to be ready to fall apart will be relegated to backup status, and the new Shiny Toy will live besides my garage queens to be rolled out every weekend.

I poured over this forum and the smoking meat forum before making the decision. Looking forward to seeing this arrive.

Congratulations, catzcradle. You'll enjoy your AQ. I am still amazed at how good this unit cooks BBQ. The only drawback is that you will get constant requests for office birthday lunches, neighborhood block parties, family and in-law meals....

Thanks for the welcome. The only thing the charcoal store didn't have is the smaller drip pan, so I'll have to buy something local for that.

You will LOVE the stand!! I did not buy one when I first got my AQ and while I loved the smoker, I did not enjoy having to bend down to load and tend. I got the stand afterward and feel that it makes the smoker complete. Go to a local restaurant supply and buy a 2 1/2" deep 1/2 steam pan. OR, go to sams and buy a cheap pack of diposable aluminum ones and throw away after each smoke.

You are going to love your new smoker!!

if you ordered the stand w/ the AQ, it comes with the proper pan which mounts between the stand and the AQ.
