Leaving Your FEC100 Outside in a Four Season Climate

The cover is heavy duty. It will keep the pit nice. Mine has been outside for 6+ years. No problems. No cover on it.

I leave mine outside all the time and cook with the cover on... No Problems here

Mine survived the 60mph winds, minus 20 wind chill and 14" of show, all with the cover on.

It'll be fine. You'll only get rust if the legs (that are painted) flake off. Just paint them.

Oh, and I cook with the cover on, too much of a hassle to put it on, take it off, put it on...etc.

Mine is outside with several inches of snow on the cover.
I do cover the exhaust when not in use to keep critters and snow out.

To use:
Shovel a path to it.
Dust off snow.
Open cover(s).
Turn on and use as normal.

No problems......

Hey SlimJim, I too live in Chicago, I didn't order the cover, I wheel it into the garage after each cook, kinda a pain, but it works. From what I understand, you can cook in the cover and leave it out without a problem! Where in Chicago?

We never take the covers off,especially in tropical storms.

Guys leave them on the back of open trailers, to transport to cookoffs,and never remove them.

i live in Long Grove IL a chicago suburb and keep my FEC 100 outside year round with no problems. i have an outdoor gas heater between my cookshack and weber ranch kettle grill just for days like this. Somewhere near o. don't want my beer to freeze.
