I'm new here. I'm very close to buying a smokette 009. Has the "bang" issue been taken care of? That would cause a problem where I live. Also, can the CS perform at 0-20 degrees? Just curious and hopeful...I'm currently using an electric bullet and I've had enough. Can't use it in the winter! I'm ready to move to the next level...

hey badmoon: the bang thing happens to some people, usually just once. It's an odd thing. Happened to me I think twice at the beginning, then never again (like 3 yrs now). Personally, I think it has to do with some part of metal expanding during the initial cooks... no one has ever reported damage from it, at least not on here. It's an anomoly, and I wouldn't worry bout it.

People use these things in Alaska... the winter temps are not a problem, even outdoors. Major insulation in the box keeps it hot inside.
