I just got a maverick and am wondering does it beep or something when it looses its signal or you go out of range i can find the answer anywhere in the book and i even walked down the block to see if it does and im not getting anthing. How do i know if it lost its signal and im not just reading the temp that it had when it lost the signal?

I also have the ET-73. The first transmitter I received had a bum display, but the replacement works just fine.

Since I wasn't required to send back the broken transmitter, I decided to try and fix the thing I don't like about this model. The xmtr on/off and the reset switches both reside under the battery cover. Just to turn off you have to remove the battery cover!!!

I took the battery cover from the spare I had and drilled access holes over each switch and it works great. (there's a recess molded in the cover located just over each switch) I keep a finish nail handy to turn off or push reset if I need to.

Works great - looks fine. I'm sure it would void warranty - so not recommending for new ones...
